3. Ted: We are now—Casual
Barney: Yeah, cuz nothing says “Casual” like inviting a hundred people over
just to “Mac” on one girl. Oh, and Lily—that’s my leg.
=> mac on = mack on= hit on; attempt to attract ;to try to hit on someone of
the opposite sex, but usually a man trying to hit on a woman

hit on: may use with both way, boy to girl or girl to boy.
pick up: 較有"吊"馬子凱子的意味.
ex. She likes to pick up guys in the bar.
4. Ted: (on Phone) hey, am I interrupting anything? (Holding party mixes)
Marshall: No, no I’m just writing my paper. Hitting the books.
=> 跟中文一樣意思,k書、用功。
5. Narrator: She didn’t show up.
Marshall: Alright, we threw two parties. Everybody had fun. Everybody
wanged, everybody chunged.
=> Everybody wanged, everybody chunged. = wang chung = have fun 玩得
開心
6. Ted: Robin, look I didn’t invite you to this party to set you up with Carlos. Or
the one before that. Or the one before that. (Robin smiles) I threw these
parties because I wanted to see you.
=> set one up = fix up = hook up 撮合某人,製造機會
7. Barney: Unbelievable. That is just a recipe for disaster, they work together
(Carlos and Tatiana are making out)
Ted: You jealous?
=> means something is a recipe for disaster if it’s going to cause trouble or
serious problems.

8. I’m goanna knock back this beer. I’m gonna knock back one more beer. I’m
gonna go home, I’m gonna write a twenty-five page paper. I’m gonna hand it
in and I’m gonna get a A.
